Privacy Policy

The short version: your colors and images never leave your browser, and we collect as little as possible.

Overview

RGB Colors is a free, browser-based toolkit of color utilities. There are no accounts, no profiles and no uploads. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the site, which third parties are involved, and the rights you have over any information we do handle.

Everything runs in your browser

Every tool — the color picker, the converters, the gradient and palette generators, the contrast checker and the image tools — is plain JavaScript that runs on your own device. Images you open are read locally through your browser’s canvas API and never uploaded to a server. As a result we cannot see the colors, palettes, gradients or files you work with.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for or store your name, email address, phone number or postal address unless you email us first. We do not create user accounts. We do not upload, store or inspect the images you process with the tools, and we never read the contents of your clipboard. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone.

Clipboard and downloads

Copy buttons write the value you chose to your system clipboard using your browser’s clipboard API — we never read from it. Files you convert or download are generated locally in your browser and are never transmitted to us; we keep no copies of anything you create.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our hosting provider records standard request logs: the page you requested, the date and time, your IP address, your browser and operating system (user agent), the referring page and any errors. These logs keep the site running, help us diagnose faults and protect against abuse and denial-of-service traffic, and they are retained only as long as that requires.

Cookies and local storage

RGB Colors sets no tracking cookies of its own and works without cookies. A small amount of data is stored in your browser’s local storage so the site behaves the way you left it:

  • Theme preference — whether you chose light or dark mode.
  • Cached ad settings — which ad placements are enabled, so ads render instantly on your next visit.
  • Admin session — only if you sign in to the admin area, a flag that keeps you signed in.

You can clear all of it at any time from your browser’s site-data settings. Nothing on the site breaks if you do.

Advertising and Google AdSense

This site is supported by advertising. When ads are enabled, third-party vendors — including Google — may use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland see a consent notice and can change their personalised-advertising choice there at any time. Ad providers are responsible for their own data practices — we never share the colors or images you work with, because those never leave your browser.

Analytics and tag management

The site loads Google Tag Manager, which lets us add measurement and advertising tags without changing the site’s code. When analytics is active it records aggregate, non-identifying information such as page views and approximate region, so we can tell which tools are worth improving. It is not used to build a profile of you across the web.

Third-party services we rely on

These services may receive your IP address and basic request metadata simply because your browser contacts them directly:

  • Google Fonts — serves the typefaces used across the site.
  • Google Tag Manager — loads the measurement and advertising tags.
  • Google AdSense — serves the ads shown on the site, when advertising is enabled.
  • Sanity — the content platform and CDN that serve the blog’s text and images.
  • Our hosting provider — serves the site itself and keeps the request logs described above.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy, and we do not control their practices.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because we hold no accounts and store no tool data, the only personal information we could realistically act on is an email you chose to send us. Send requests to the address at the end of this page and we will respond within the timeframes required by local law.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.

Data retention

Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security, debugging and abuse prevention. Emails you send us are kept while we handle your enquiry and for a short period afterwards for reference, then deleted.

Children’s privacy

RGB Colors is a professional design tool, not a children’s service, and it is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our providers operate globally, so information covered by this policy may be processed outside your country. Where required, those transfers rely on contractual safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and we keep its dependencies up to date. No online service can promise perfect security, but because the tools never transmit your work to us there is very little to protect in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If the way we handle data changes — for example when a new advertising or measurement partner is added — this page is updated before that change takes effect. The “last updated” line at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
